Foundation Leading Contributor
Oakwood Breast Care Center
In our efforts to improve the quality of healthcare in southeast Michigan,
SEMP Foundation has committed to the permanent funding of the Oakwood
Breast Care Center at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn. With our pledge
of $750,000 over the next five years, the Breast Care Center promises
to provide a welcoming atmosphere for women seeking testing or treatment
at state-of-the-art facilities. Construction of the center is slated
to be completed fall, 2006.
On the second floor of the Dearborn Medical Office Building, the Breast
Care Center will provide 100% digital technology, mammography, ultrasound,
needle localization, bone densitometry, stereotactic biopsy and a
women’s resource library. These comprehensive services will
be accompanied by exemplary customer service as well. Currently, Oakwood
is developing a service commitment guarantee that will include same
day/next day mammograms with same day results, online appointment
scheduling, same day mammogram results, individualized attention with
a nurse coordinator and close communication with the patient’s
primary care physician. “It is the mission of the SEMP Foundation
to improve the health of the community. We are promoting an environment
of excellence by embracing the latest technology and the timeliness
of its delivery,” said Thomas Siegel, MD, Oakwood Healthcare
System (OHS) and SEMP Foundation trustee.
Some of the excellence in care will include the promise of minimally
invasive biopsy options and access to all information and support
groups. “The entire site will be designed around our patients,”
said Carla O’Malley, executive director, OHS Foundation. SEMP’s
commitment to this project echoes our belief that with the creation
of a quality facility, we can improve the diagnosis and treatment
of women in a first rate atmosphere. |
